Crowthorne Chess Club welcomes junior players to the club, and over the years many juniors have played successfully for all the Crowthorne teams in the local leagues. We also have a junior section, which offers training by club members, some of whom are ECF certified arbiters and trainers.

John Upham gives out prizes at a UKCC event that he ran in 2023

The junior sessions, which run from 6:15-7:15pm on Wednesdays, include:

– playing in the Junior Club Ladder
– playing in a UKCC tournament
– other ad-hoc tournaments
– just playing chess!

Additionally, there are always adult club members around to give tips on how to play chess. This could be openings, going through games, endings or any other aspect of the game.

The junior section meets in the club’s usual location in Wellington College, please see the About Us page for details.

For more information about the junior section, please contact the Club Secretary.
